| Return to Business Analysis | Develop Business Data Model Task |
| The Business Data Model is sometimes known as the Conceptual Data Model. As such it defines concepts in the business, the entities or terms, and relationships or facts. The concepts are defined by nouns, the names of the entities or names of the entity attributes, and the facts are defined by verb phrases, the names of the relationships. |
| Creating a data or conceptual model early in the development of the business model is important to the understanding of the business, especially if no glossary of terms is started until the system requirements stage. Without it there is no explanation of the meaning of the words that are used in the business process model. This leads to ambiguity and ambiguity leads to errors. |
