Business Analysis Stage |
| Business analysis is the process of analysing the business and producing a model of the business. It may be performed purely for the purpose of improving the business or as a context for the development of a set of computer system requirements. The resulting models and documents do not, however, by themselves constitute a set of system requirements. If a computer system is to be developed then the Requirements Gathering Stage, at least, will have to be performed, preferably by those team members who developed the business model. |
| If the project does not involve business process improvement, then the Define Business Structure task may be omitted. If the business process is both stable and well understood by stakeholders, then the Develop Business Process Model and Develop Business Data Model tasks of the business analysis stage may also be omitted for a pure system development project. |
| The Project Overview Document defined in the Project Management Stage may be developed as part of this stage. The Glossary of the Requirements Gathering Stage should also be maintained as part of this stage. |
